My mother-in-law makes the best juicy savoury sausage rolls, she always get compliments and people can’t get enough of these. She’s kindly shared this recipe with me, so save your precious time and look no further – try her delicious and easy recipe for pork sausage rolls.
Makes 16 small rolls
What you need
2 sheets frozen puff pastry
4 slices white bread (remove crusts)
1 tbsp olive oil
1 medium onion finely chopped
1 clove garlic (crushed)
500g sausage mince
1 egg lightly beaten
¼ chopped fresh parsley (or 3 teaspoons dried mixed herbs )
2 tablespoons tomato sauce
2 tablespoons sweet chilli sauce
Salt & pepper to taste
What to do
Tear each slice bread into 4 pieces, soak in milk for 10 minutes.
Heat oil, add onion & garlic cook until onion is softened. Add onion mix to bread with remaining ingredients. Only use half the beaten egg in the mixture, and reserve the remaining egg for brushing the top of the pastry.
Mix well with hands.
Cut sheets of puff pastry in half so you have 4 rectangles. Divide and shape sausage mix into long rolls down the side of each pastry sheet, and roll up to enclose filling.
Brush with remaining beaten egg and sprinkle sesame seeds on top of pastry. Bake in hot oven (200°C) for around 25 – 30 minutes.
